Neil Armstrong, Daddy Dog and Roli Rho were the original members of the crew, meeting in the fall of 1995 at the Rhythm Method DJ Battle in NYC.

The 3 became fast friends, and started sessioning alongside Total Eclipse and Mista Sinista of the X-Men DJ Crew, meeting in the basement of Neil's house. Consequently, Neil's Basement became a stopover for many world famous DJ's when visiting NYC - including DJ Disk, and Shorkut of ISP fame.

The 5th Platoon roster grew as they added Do Boy, Vinroc and Kuttin Kandi to the squad and from from 1996 to 1999, the 5P did damage in the turntablist Battle scene. Vinroc won the ITF Advancement championships 2 times in a row, Do Boy and Kuttin Kandi were both finalists in the 98 DMC US Finals, Roli took home various wins including winning the Vibe Seminar Championships 2 times in a row. They were also finalists in the 97 ITF Team Championships held at the palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

The Crews involvement in Battling slowed down after that, with the members focusing more on Performances and shows, including a performance at Lincoln Center in NYC, the annual Rocksteady Anniversary Jam, and various clubs around NYC and San Francisco. They also hit the college circuit, touring all over the US, spreading the artform of turntablism to the students at Stamford, Harvard, Oberlin College, U of Texas in Austin, Binghampton and Old Dominion to name a few.

In 2002, Neil Armstrong met IE.merg by chance at the famed Turntable Lab Store in NYC.

IE.merg ended up becoming Neil's roomate, and the rest as they say, is history. Merg resurrected the 5P's Status in the Battle Realm, by leveling the playingfield entirely from 2002 til his final battle in 2005. Along the way he garnered an unprecedented 9 US Titles, and 4 World Titles. Among his accomplishments, he gave the 5th Platoon something that had alluded them by winning the DMC world Championships 2 times in a row in 2004 and 2005.

IE.merg decided to stop competing after his 2005 World Championship win, and with that the 5th Platoon's original goal of killing the battle scene came to an end.

The 5th Platoon still moves as a unit, but with individual goals ranging from Mixtapes, to music production, to party-rocking from state to state and around the world.

In 2007, the 5P was given a very special recognition when they collaborated with adidas on a limited addition sneaker. Adidas is of course, the company who started urban artist collaborations with A DJ Named Jam Master Jay Years Before...
