DJ Do-boy aka Taek Kwon stormed onto the turntablist scene back in 96, built his name up seemingly overnight as the most technically proficient scratcher on the east coast.
He took his cues from his heroes to the west who were known for innovating the aspects of scratching . Q-bert, D-styles, Disc, Melo-D, Shortkut to name a few.
Upon meeting the rest of the 5P members Neil Armstrong , Roli Rho and Daddy Dog, he decided to take his skills to the battle, and was the next member inducted into the crew to wreck havoc on the Battle Circuit.
He was one of those naturals, who could be shown something on the 1.s and 2.s, learn it immediately, and bring it to the next level right before your eyes.
Although virtually unknown to a lot of the current followers of the scene, Do Boy was one of the major influencers of the ideals of turntablism that are followed today. He often sessioned with members of the X-ecutioners, Q-bert, and DJ Excess who would become a member of the acclaimed Ned Hoddings crew.
During the time when he was most active between 97 & 99, he became known for being one of the most technically innovative turntablist in the scene, and he always made a point to bring something brand new to the game.
These days, he is more likely found in an expensive suit and tie, conquering the Corporate Technology world. But that.s part of his personality . being exceptional in whatever endeavor he takes up.
